Potato

Location ( Altitude wise) 700 -1650 m msl
Soil Any type of  soil, Thrives well in sandy loam.
Varieties Kufri Chandramukhi , Kufri Jyoti and Kufri Lalima
Seed rate 25 to 30 q/ha or  6.25 to 7.5 q/sangam
Selection of tuber Tuber weighing 40-50 g with 2 to 3 eyes.
Seed treatments If cut tubers are used dip them in Dithane M-45 (2 g/litre) for 10 minutes.
Time of sowing a) Plain areas : October - November   b) Hill areas : March - April
Land preparation 4-5 ploughing followed by planking. Make ridge and furrow.
Manures  20 - 25  t/ha         or       5 - 6.25  t/sangam .
Fertilizers@ N:P2O5 : K2O-100:80:100 Fertilizer Per ha Per sangam

Method of application Full quantity of SSP and MOP and half of the Urea should be applied as basal. Remaining quantity of Urea be applied as top dress at the time of earthing up.

Inter- cultural operations  Do earthing up, within 30 days of sowing when plants are 15 cm tall.
Irrigation 5 to 6 light irrigation. Do not irrigate within 30 days of sowing.

Control Measure

Late blight (Phytopthora infestation) Brownish to purplish black lesions on the leaflets and in stems, lesions enlarged rapidly and brown discoloration of the tubers followed by rots. Do not use diseased tuber for planting. Spray Copper oxychloride @ 2.0 to 2.5 g/litre or 9% Bordeaux mixture.
Cutworm Worms cut the young plant at ground level and bud on tender leaves and shoot during night. Spray Chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 2.5 ml/litre or Endosulfan 0.07% (2ml/litre).
Potential yield                        200 - 250 q/ha               or         50 - 62.5 q/sangam q/sangam                                                          

Brinjal

Location ( Altitude wise) Low to medium ( 850-1100 m msl).
Varieties Pusa purple Long,Pusa Kranti,Pant Samrat,KT-4,Sel-3,Sel-5.
Soil Heavy soil, clay loam to clayey are suitable.
Seed rate 700-800 g/ha   or   175 - 200 g/sangam
Seed/Seedling treatments Treat the seed with Captan or Thiram@2 g/kg.
Time of sowing a) Pre-kharif : January - February(spring)                                                                        b) Rabi         : September - October  (winter)
Land preparation Plough  to fine tilth.
Manures (FYM or Compost) 10 t/ha or 2.5  t/sangam.
Method of application Mix  thoroughly in the soil 15 days before sowing.

Fruit and shoot borer Dropping and withering of infested terminal shoot. Spray Endosulfan 35 EC @ 2 ml/litre or Monocrotophos 36 WSC @ 1 ml/litre or Quinalphos 25 EC @ 2 ml/litre or Fenvelerate 20 EC@ 0.5 ml/litre of water starting from one month after transplanting.
Potential yield 200 q/ha               or         50 q/sangam                                                           

Cabbage

Location ( Altitude wise) 900-1500 m above msl.(mean sea level)
Varieties Pride of India, Golden Acre, Drum head, Pride of Fuji (hybrid), Konark(hybrid)
Soil Heavy soil, clay loam to clayey are suitable.
Seed rate 400-500 g/ha   or   100 - 125 g/sangam
Seed/Seedling treatments Agrosan GN or Ceresan @ 2 g should be treated with 1 kg of seed before sowing. After germination seedlings are sprayed with Dithane -45 @ 1 g/litre of water.
Time of sowing a) Pre-kharif : March - November 
b) Rabi         : September - June
Land preparation Thoroughly Ploughing too fine tilth.
Manures (FYM or Compost) 15-20  t/ha or 3.75-5  t/sangam.
Method of application Mixed  thoroughly in the soil 15 days before transplanting.

Inter- cultural operations 2-3 intercultural operation is needed, light hoeing is advised.

Control Measure

Black rot Infected leaves show yellowing at the margin of leaves, veins become dark,brown and vascular region of the stem become discoloured. Treat the seed with hot water at 30oC for 30 minutes. Crops of the same family should not be grown for at least 3 years.
Diamond back moth Many holes are seen on the young leaves. Spray Nuvan 76 EC @ 1 ml /litre of water.
Potential yield 200-300  q/ha               or         50-75 q/sangam

Location ( Altitude wise) 700 -1500 m msl
Soil Heavy soil, clay loam to clayey are suitable.

Method of application Mix  the mixture thoroughly in the soil 15 days before transplanting.
